Engine sound hangs at start up

After updating to B58 I am experiencing an interruption during the engine spool up.

After engine start N2 starts running up to 20%. At that point the EGT is at 16 C°. Then the engine sound stops for a second and I see EGT suddenly jumping to 32 C° and continue increasing and with sound being back from there.

Anyone else seeing this?

I´ve had that too on my first flight with the Build 58. But it didn´t happen again, since.

strange. I am still having this effect on every start up.

EDIT: I noticed today, that after landing, APU and Engines off, but EXT PWR still on, the start up of the engines worked. But at a later flight, after C&D restart of all the systems, the issue occured again.

Anyone else with this experience and a tip?

I need to bring back up this topic after updating to 58.0.4 and doing some further testing:

Here's my test sequence:
1. initial start of engine1: sound stops at N2 20% and then continues at N2 22%
2. shut down of engine 1 and restart engine 1: sound working without interruption
3. initial start of engine 2:sound stops at N2 20% and then continues at N2 22%
4. shut down of engine 2 and restart engine 2: sound working without interruption

What's wrong with my system, that I seem to be the only one with this issue???

Hi Stephan,

Not sure, if it's related. After fixing the old sound problem with the extended sound file in B57, I've copied the complete BSS sound folder to the new A320 folder of version B58.

So it should run with the extended file here also. And it is working on restarting the engine, just not on the initial start up.

However it is strange, that the problem occurs at the same point.
Am I overseeing something?

Michael, have you tried it without the change you´ve done manually to the soundconfig, as it is mentioned in the other thread by balu69?
If not, i suggest to reverse the change back to the origianal cfg.

Wanted to try with another sound package today, but was running into additional strange issues:
1. the "crash" sound is played when starting FMGS server.
2. the Skalarki trimwheel moves to 0.2 up
3. I don't have any cockpit sound anymore

I then rolled back to B58.0.2, which solved 1) and 2). But I still don't have cockpit sounds anymore. The settings on the sound module look good. Playing the sounds manually also works. No clue, what's wrong here...I'm frustrated and will go to bed...

can you check if you have a file called ASIOfwc.cfg in your c:\A320FMGS\FMGS Server folder or in c:\A320FMGS\Sound ?

No, I don't have this file, neither on the P3D pc, nor on the Server pc.

did you try to delete the sound config file then running the software again to reinitialize your sound settings?

Cockpit Sound is back after reinstalling the FMGS software on the P3D pc.

But the main sound problem with the engine start remains. I tested another sound package (Turbine Sound Studio) - same effect.

The strange thing is, after shutting down the engine and restarting it again it's working. There must be an issue with the initial start configuration.

Michael, honestly i think it´s may be an issue with your soundcard driver, rather then Jeehell. In fact the engine sound is played within P3D itself and not in FMGS. It seems something is wrong with the soundengine on the P3D part.

Hi Bernd, I do have the latest drivers installed. I also checked my other soundcard on this pc - same effect.

And I don't believe, it has something to do with the drivers, as the problem started with update to B58. And it's only happening on the initial start up.
Allthough I need to admit that it's strange, that I seem to be the only one with this problem.

But you mentioned, that you've also experienced that right after updating to B58. Did you do anything to get rid of if?

And is anyone also experiencing the crash sound at start of FMGS? This also came with B58.

I must say, that i havn´t used my Sim for quite some time meanwhile. It´s just from a logical point of view. Bear in mind, that the Engine sounds are controlled and driven by p3D. I think, the only action by Jeehell for it is to initate that the engines get started. From then on, it´s a P3D internal sound rutine, controlled by the sound.cfg to go thru the different soundfiles an mix them together in the right manner as it´s coded in the config. JL, correct if i´am wrong but Jeehell doesn´t influent the soundmixing an replay itself.
You should test the sound without Jeehell running by just start the engines by the key command STRG-E in P3D. If the hick-up appears the same, it´s not Jeehell related.

I tried the STRG+E command, but only the first part of the engine start up sound was played; not the full sequence. I believe, this first part ends, where my problem starts - at N2 20%.

I suspect some general wrong configuration with the new A320 aircraft of version B58. Here's the summary of issues, I have:
- crash sound at start of FMGS server
- ECAM message " L/G Gear not uplocked" (of course not, I'm on ground!)
- engine sound hangs between N2 20%-22%
- no L/G gear sound played, when moving gear up or down

This is, how I did the update from B57 to B58 with the new aircraft model.
Before installation, I secured my soundpackage and texture subfolders from the A320-214 CFM version, then I deleted the Aircraft folder. After the new folder for the new A320 has been created, I copied back into the A320 folder the subfolders for sound and texture and linked them in the aircraft.cfg

I also tried a fresh clean reinstall of the full FMGS suite on the P3d pc, again adding back the subfolders for sound and texture, but that didn't help either. Could it be, that I am doing something wrong with the update of the new A320 model?

Michael, this seems clearly to be an issue with your P3D. I guess the sound.cfg is somehow corrupted. Have you tried a different sound package?

You may need to re-install the P3D Client, because something related to the soundengine within P3D seems corrupted

Also the reinstall of the P3D client didn't change anything.

I then restored my old B57 folders to reconfirm this version is working. But that brought up even more problems. Now on the ECAM screen the engine indicator is jumping back and forth between Reverse and Toga; L/glear red light blinking; several ECAM engine warnings... not sure, if this is due to me just copying back the folders, but not doing a clean reinstall of B57.

This is driving me crazy! :-( I will delete everything and do a complete clean reinstall of FMGS on the P3D and Server PC on the weekend and will reconfigure everything from scratch.

What I noticed: when reaching 22% there is a kind of a relais noise and then the message "Outer Tank Fuel XFRD" appears. That might be ok, as total FOB is 2.3 t in my C&D scenario. I will test tomorrow with different FOB. Maybe there is a causality...

Michael, i can confirm i´am having the crash sound at Jeehell startup too. But the engine spool up sound is continous and is not interrupted in my case. Everything sounds perfecly well, except from the crash sound thing.

Thank you Bernd. At least I am not the only one with the crash sound issue.

However with the disrupted spool up sound I am still without a clue. Again a summary of my tests
- different sound package
- different sound card
- reinstalled P3D client
- reinstalled FMGS client (on P3D PC)

When shutting down the engine and restarting, everything works perfect!!

@Jean Luc, I hope you see this and can give advise, too. I saw in the release notes for B58, that work has been done on some engine sound failures. Could there be a relation?

I could finally solve it!!!

I have updated to P3Dv5.4 and in this context I also deleted the p3d.cfg and had P3D creating a new one. I guess this was the culprit.
Now the engine sound is running up smoothly!
